Humble beginnings, great potential…
The Children’s Health Academy of Specialised Sports (CHAOSS) is where young sportsmen and women in Bahrain discover, develop and enhance their physical skills and talents through structured sporting programs and activities, which currently include Gymnastics, Baby gymnastics, Dance, Play groups, Taekwondo, Swimming, Parties and Child development.Despite our humble beginnings in January 2005, we have over 3000 registered students and a team of specialist coaches and assistants. Our facilities include a gymnasium equipped with top-of-the-line equipment, specialist dance and martial arts studios, a heated and shaded swimming pool, indoor and outdoor play areas, ample parking and a comfortable lounge area for parents.
Our coaching techniques transcend cultural, language and gender divides, providing a unique opportunity for children of all ages and varying physical abilities to learn and excel in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
Flipping success!
The founder and owner, Cara Mattias, an accomplished British certified gymnast and coach, who trained with the 1983 Olympic Gymnastic squad, also heads up the gymnastics programme. Gymnastics already enjoys public support and interest in other Gulf countries including Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. CHAOSS believed that with financial investment and public support it would be possible to develop local talent to the level where Bahrain could also host and participate in competitions, presentations and shows in the region. |

So by 2006, with over thirty young gymnasts that had graduated to the CHAOSS Elite squad, it was time to begin networking with clubs around the Gulf to lay the foundations for the squad to participate in their first regional competition.
An opportunity came in 2006, when CHAOSS was invited to participate in an inter-club competition in Dubai, which took place on 29 and 30 June, 2006. A team consisting of over a dozen accomplished young gymnasts competed in the event, and brought home three bronze medals, proving there was considerable potential for world class gymnasts to exist in Bahrain. |

The event received significant media coverage in both local and regional newspapers and magazines.
In May 2007, Chaoss participated in Qatar at the Inter Gulf Gymnastics Club Competition. We brought home 7 gold, 3 silvers, 7 bronze medals.
In April 2008 CHAOSS hosted last year’s Inter Gulf Clubs Gymnastics Championship at St. Christopher’s School. Winning 3 Vault & 1 Floor Events & clinching top places in 2 events.
In June 2008, 44 children from CHAOSS participated at the Dubai Olympic Gymnastics Club and brought home 43 medal. The most out of all inter gulf participants.
